Law Firms DFMG and Burley & Geach Live with LexisNexis Axxia dna
Global News

LexisNexis logoLexisNexis, a leading global provider of Practice and Productivity Management solutions, today announced that UK law firm Burley & Geach Solicitors and award-winning Irish corporate commercial law firm DFMG Solicitors, are now live with LexisNexis Axxia dna as their business management system.

Burley & Geach chose dna for its sophisticated workflow technology, web functionality, resilience and customisability. dna is enabling Burley & Geach to enhance staff productivity and increase overall efficiency, both key contributing factors to the firm’s profitability in the current economic climate. For instance, the firm will be able to track and manage all communications with clients and prospects, spanning multiple departments including legal files, finance and marketing information.

DFMG’s selection of dna on the other hand, was driven by the solution’s ability to deliver superior document and financial management functionality, compared to other competing products in the market. dna will assist the firm in meeting its goal of becoming a paperless office through the provision of electronic storage and document filing. Over time, this will also help the firm accrue significant savings on its storage costs.

Doug McLachlan, Platform Director Mid Law, LexisNexis Practice and Productivity Management, said, “We are seeing an increasing interest in dna from law firms, primarily because it gives them a flexible platform, which they can easily customise to meet their individual business requirements. From an investment perspective too, dna is future-proof. We have a well defined product roadmap to keep pace with changing market conditions. With dna as their business platform, both firms will always be able to quickly evolve their offerings in response to customer demands. We look forward to a continued and mutually rewarding partnership with these firms.”

Burley & Geach has deployed dna for matter management and time and enquiries management. In addition, it will soon be implemented as the workflow-based case management system for the firm’s conveyancing business. The solution has been implemented across the firm’s four locations including Haselmere, Grayshott, Petersfield and Liphook, in Surrey and Hampshire. Prior to this new deployment, Burley & Geach was using a legacy Axxia system called Arista.

Ray Sparrow, Practice and Office Manager, Burley & Geach, commented, “We have made a conscious decision to invest in leading-edge technology to secure the long term future of our practice. Given the current economic environment, this is a particularly good time to take stock and replace legacy systems. We have used LexisNexis’ solution for many years now, and so have a good insight into the company’s commitment to technology development. Also, its understanding of the requirements of the legal profession is exceptional and continuity of service was an important factor in the decision. dna was therefore the obvious choice.

“Through dna, workflow automation will significantly increase our business efficiency, but more importantly it should deliver tangible benefits to our customers in the form of a further improved service.”

DFMG has implemented dna as a document, time recording and billing management system across the firm in Dublin, Ireland. Since its recent deployment, the firm is already experiencing better financial control of its business as a result of more efficient time recording, improved billing procedures and timely reporting and financial analysis capabilities. For instance, now the firm can view age debtors by fee earner, department or work type in real time, which was not possible previously.

Brendan O’Donovan, Managing Partner, DFMG Solicitors, further explained, “Prior to dna, we were doing our document and email handling manually, which was extremely difficult to manage given the large amount of paper work and incoming emails that are generated for cases. In addition, storage of documentation was proving to be very costly. Also, billing and financial management was unnecessarily time consuming. It became apparent to us that technology was the answer.

“dna has simplified and automated key business processes at our firm. In fact, we realised its efficiency benefits almost instantaneously upon implementation, not to mention how smoothly the deployment was conducted. The whole project ran like clockwork with absolutely no disruption to work at the firm. This took us completely by surprise - the nature of technology implementations is such that there are always technical glitches to iron out. We could not have asked for more.”

LexisNexis Axxia dna is a business-centric application that brings together practice management, business process management, business intelligence and resource planning. It is the first business management system that has been written specifically for the legal sector.
