Mattern & Associates’ Launches ILTA Roadshow: 8 Ways Managed Services Benefit Law Firms
USA/Canada News

Mattern logoLegal Support services consulting firm Mattern & Associates, LLC announces will launch its International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) sponsored roadshow, “8 Ways Managed Services Benefits Law Firms,” tomorrow, November 2nd, at host firm, Burns & Levinson LLP in Boston.

Mattern & Associates Director of Client Technology and Strategy Stephen Cole will be leading the educational sessions in Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C, and New York City to discuss the pros and cons of managed eDiscovery and litigation support. These educational luncheon events are complimentary to both ILTA and non-ILTA members.

Over the recent years, managed services have gained tremendous traction in the legal industry. According to the Mattern & Associates 2015 Managed E-Discovery and Litigation Support Survey, 28% of respondents indicated that their firm had entered into some form of managed services arrangement concerning their litigation support, and 46% indicated that their firm is considering it.

There are a number of factors driving law firms to consider these arrangements, including:

  • Risk Mitigation
  • Security
  • Guaranteed Service Levels
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Flexibility
  • Avoidance of technology obsolescence
  • Staffing expertise
  • Best-in-Class Infrastructure and Software

In addition, the highly regarded Mattern & Associates 2016 Cost Recovery Survey gives added evidence for these trends.  This year’s survey results show litigation support is an emerging area of interest in outsourcing with 24% of firms indicating outsourcing of some on-site functions related to litigation support (technology or staffing).

However, this approach may not be the right fit for every firm. Cole plans to discuss both the positive and negatives of managed services and assist the audience with the practical knowledge necessary to determine if they can implement strategies internally to take advantage of the above factors.

Cole comments “We are honored to collaborate with ILTA to bring in depth analysis to this emerging area, and pleased to bring the most up to date data and benchmarks to bear upon the discussion. I look forward to a highly engaged discussion of this trending subject and to further dive into the pros and cons of this timely topic.”
