LexisNexis Releases PCLaw 14 Featuring Batch Email Billing
Global News

LexisNexis logoLexisNexis® Legal & Professional, a leading provider of content and technology solutions, announced today the release of version 14 for its LexisNexis PCLaw® law firm practice management software. The PCLaw software product is a customizable all-in-one solution for managing nearly all aspects of a law practice including matter management, time entry, billing, accounting, including trust accounting and financial reporting.

The new version of the PCLaw program includes batch email billing that allows law firm administrators to send multiple bills by email quickly and easily. The feature is designed to reduce the time required to review, edit, and send law firm invoices. The system provides assurance that invoices have in fact been sent through an invoice email tracking report.

“PCLaw saves us up to 60% of the time it used to take to get bills out each month,” said Brent Bridges, executive director at Bloom Sugarman Everett, a boutique civil litigation trial law firm in Atlanta in a published case study. “At any time, our partners can go into ‘My Business’ and get a snapshot of how we’re doing, down to a granular level of clients, accounts receivable, billable hours and more. They can see what specific teams are looking like for the month and if they’re meeting their targets and goals.”

In version 14, the batch email billing feature provides law firms with a range of options to pre-configure, create templates and customize those templates for invoices – and the emails used to distribute these invoices to clients. In addition, during the billing process, the email invoice queue allows users to easily sort a batch list of email by client or by billing attorney. For example, administrators may choose to sort and send bills for just one attorney in a firm, or to make last minute modifications to the email template that accompanies the bill on the fly.

“A recent market research survey indicated 58% of law firms say they spend too much time simply processing and invoicing clients,” says Steve Fetters, a senior product manager with the LexisNexis software division. “The accounting and financial features of the PCLaw software have long helped law firms work more efficiently and the new batch email billing features in version 14 streamlines the invoicing process even further.”

Separately, this new version of the PCLaw software includes enhancements to the attorney-centric dashboards and reporting improvements, among others. It is also supported for use with Microsoft® Office® 2010 and 2013 Click-to-Run software.

“Some 73% of small law firms say they encounter clients that allow legal invoices to become past due at least some of the time and aside from fee disputes or financial struggles, the reasons invoices become past due center on poor communication, insufficient detail in invoices and even delays in issuing invoices,” added Fetters. “The PCLaw program reduces the administrative burden of invoicing and ensures that professional, accurate and detailed invoices are sent on time to clients.”
