NetDocuments logondOffice version 1.8 advances NetDocuments’ and Microsoft’s cloud-first strategy and Office application integration

NetDocuments, the leading native cloud-based document and email management service for law firms and corporate legal departments, today announced the release of ndOffice 1.8 adding additional features and functionality to further improve the end-user experience working with NetDocuments inside of the Microsoft Office applications.

Significant features of the latest version include an ndOffice activity center, a document-specific information panel, right click functionality and advanced Adobe Acrobat integrations.

ndOffice now in its 8th version, is a critical piece of NetDocuments’ comprehensive suite of document and email management services that combine security and compliance with individual productivity and improved usability. ndOffice was previously selected as ‘Top 10 Product of the Year’ by TechnoLawyer and NetDocuments recently received the 2016 ALM Innovation Award for ‘Best Document Automation/Management’ software. ndOffice plays a critical role in the NetDocuments and Microsoft strategic partnership and cloud-first integration with Office 365 and integrated Office applications.

According to a recent poll of 25+ NetDocuments’ customer CIOs attending its 7th annual CIO Forum, data leakage from end users circumventing the DMS is the top ‘front-end’ security concern. NetDocuments’ embedded Microsoft Office application integrations allow individuals to remain within Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to perform key document management functions such as opening, editing, filing, tagging, and versioning with backend processing and communication with the NetDocuments DMS cloud.

“Whether it’s the automatic check-in or seamlessly performing day-to-day tasks in Microsoft, the ease of use and focus on usability that ndOffice provides has dramatically improved  efficiency and productivity across the entire firm,” stated Angela Dowd, Director of Practice Innovation at Burns & Levinson LLP.

NetDocuments’ strategic partnership with Microsoft and enhanced integration of Office 365 and ndOffice as clearly demonstrated in version 1.8, enables customer firms to leverage the most Microsoft-aligned and integrated cloud DMS available on the market today.

Leonard Johnson, VP of Product Development at NetDocuments stated: “We’re thrilled to have ndOffice version 1.8 available to our customers, further extending our strategic relationship and alignment with Microsoft and a ‘cloud-first’ first technology strategy.”

Beyond the customer-driven new features/functions highlighting the new version, NetDocuments’ status as a native cloud-based service with a single global instance of  software, provides its entire customer base with benefits ranging from incremental improvements to security and compliance initiatives  such as encryption in transit and at rest, ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2, HIPAA, SEC, etc. “This ‘trickle down’ benefit of software improvements and a world-class security and compliance infrastructure is simply not possible with on-premises or hosted on-premises document and email management systems.” concluded Johnson.

Key features added in version 1.8 include:

  • An ‘Activity Center’ to easily track an individual’s activity such as download/upload progress, list of recently accessed documents, multi-file type visibility, visually identifiable document icons, and document grouping based on the access date.
  • A document-specific ‘Information Panel’ to easily see all of the documents’ corresponding metadata.
  • A right-click menu offering instant access to key document functions such as open, print, get link, and versioning.
  • The ability to right-click an email attachment in Outlook and save the document to NetDocuments via ndOffice.
  • Color-coded metadata profile fields, visually differentiating option, required, and completed fields.
  • Integration with Adobe Acrobat versions XI and DC.
  • Compatibility for 64-bit Office 2013 and 2016.
