IntApp, Inc., provider of the most adopted time capture software for law firms, today announced Time Builder 5.2, which adds unique governance and compliance capabilities designed to streamline lawyer time recording and enhance firm billing and collection practices.

“We made the decision to adopt Time Builder as part of a firm wide initiative focused on improving the quality of service we provide to our clients,” said Karen Anzuini, Chief Information Officer, Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP. “The timeliness and quality of client bills will be greatly improved through the product’s real-time validation of lawyer time entries against billing guidelines sourced directly from eBillingHub or defined locally in the application. Streamlining lawyer time recording and internal finance processes are additional benefits, all which serve to validate our choice to adopt Time Builder.”

IntApp Time Builder is a software product that enables law firms to increase revenue by capturing billable time that is missed or under-billed. It does this by providing lawyers with an accurate, consolidated report of their client and matter-related activity, generated by automatically monitoring the key applications they use throughout the day. Tracked systems include document creation, email, calendar, phone, and mobile devices.

Time Builder provides lawyers with flexible access to their activity reports via a web-based interface, on mobile devices including Apple iPads and iPhones, directly through Microsoft Outlook, via email, or as a paper printout. The web and Outlook interfaces allow lawyers to group, detail and submit activities directly to financial and time entry software tools including Elite Enterprise, Elite 3E, Aderant, DTE Axiom, Tikit Carpe Diem and Rippe & Kingston.

Built to leverage IntApp's proprietary IC3 technology, an intelligent cross-referencing, categorization and classification engine, Time Builder integrates information from a variety of firm business applications to automatically and accurately match lawyer activity with associated clients and matters. Activity reports are provided to lawyers in a timesheet format that also includes the exact duration of each task. These intelligent information management capabilities set Time Builder apart from other time capture software tools, which rely on users to manually "train" software to assign specific activities with specific matters and to record task durations themselves.

“Our firm regularly pursues technology and process enhancements that allow us to provide additional value to our clients,” said George Ansfield, Strategic Analyst, Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP. “We selected Time Builder for our time management initiative after evaluating several new entries to the market and seeing just how far superior IntApp’s automated time capture capabilities were in comparison.”

Compliance Leveraging eBillingHub Integration

Time Builder’s new compliance features further distinguish it from other time capture products. It now provides real-time validation of time entries against e-billing guidelines. The net result is that lawyers immediately see when they have recorded time in a way that contradicts defined client terms of business, rather than waiting for finance or e-billing software to flag the error later in the process. This instant feedback enables lawyers to correct errors in their entries right away, or to adjust their behavior moving forward. It also helps firm finance teams accelerate bill generation and collections.

To enable this capability most effectively, IntApp has partnered with eBillingHub, part of Thomson Reuters, to offer integration of client billing rules and protocols from eBillingHub within Time Builder.

“The unique governance and compliance enhancements we’ve added to Time Builder represent another milestone in our ongoing quest to simplify the ways in which lawyers record activity and firms bill clients and collect revenue,” said Eldean Ward, Head of IntApp’s Revenue Practice Group. “Today, firms looking to modernize how lawyers track and enter time choose to partner with IntApp by an overwhelming margin, and see real, rapid, and measurable returns on their investments.”

Time Builder 5.2 will be generally available in Autumn, 2012.
