USA/Canada News

Rocket Matter logoRocket Matter®, the leading online legal billing software for law firms, today announces the “Kirk” release, which includes a major update to their client portal. Of particular note is a deep integration with credit card processor LawPay, which allows attorneys to invoice and collect payment electronically.

The revitalized Rocket Matter portal allows attorneys to create a branded online space where they can share information, documents and communicate securely with their clients. Invoices are generated from Rocket Matter’s web-based time and billing application. Clients are then notified via email of the invoice, and login to pay their bill. The payments automatically update Rocket Matter’s account ledgers as well record a deposit into their LawPay account.

"The modern law firm is fundamentally changing and we want our client portal to make our attorneys look good", says Larry Port, CEO and Founder of Rocket Matter. “The elegance of the portal, combined with the ability for custom branding and rich functionality will really increase the value our in the eyes of their clients. The attorney gets a win but the real winner is the client, who will enjoy convenience and confidence with their attorney.”

The Rocket Matter portal currently provides the following functionality:

  • Secure client communication over 128-bit HTTPS.
  • Ability for attorneys to surface invoices to clients.
  • Ability for clients to pay invoices via LawPay integration.
  • Automatic adjustments to Rocket Matter account balances with client payment.
  • Ability for clients to change contact information.
  • Ability for attorneys to share documents securely with their clients.
  • Ability for attorneys to invite clients to calendar events, and have those events surface in the portal as well as emailed via the ICS standard.

The portal is designed to be modular, and Rocket Matter intends to roll out new functionality to meet both attorney and client need.

Also released in the Kirk release is an aged accounts receivable report, which tells law firms which of their clients owe money on 30, 60, 90, and 120-day schedules. Integration with the Copy2Contact utility was also rolled out recently, which allows users to copy and paste contact information into Rocket Matter and have new contact forms filled out automatically.

Rocket Matter also recently improved mobile options for attorneys, with the release of their new native Android app and an updated version of their native iPhone app.
