CLE/MCLE Accreditation in New York and California Awarded to Capensys for IT Training on Document Management
USA/Canada News

Capensys logoCapensys announced today that their online attorney course titled “Avoiding Pitfalls: Best Practices Using Document Management Systems” has received CLE/MCLE accreditation in New York and California. The course was written in conjunction with the Legal Technology Core Competencies Certification Coalition (LTC4™) and Attorney Carol Gerber JD of Gerber Amalgamated LLC.

It is designed to ensure that attorneys understand the importance of using a document management system correctly. The course highlights the necessity of good practices when dealing with electronically stored documents and emails for the purposes of compliance, reduction of risk and client service. By directly supporting the working practices of attorneys, the course is CLE/MCLE worthy.

“This is just the beginning of the accreditation process for our attorney up-skilling program,”” says Janis Richman, Director of Consulting Services. “We are continuing to develop courses in security, time and billing, collaboration and a host of other relevant topics for attorneys. It’s a win-win situation when firm attorneys receive continuing education credits, and the firm achieves its goal of training attorneys in firm best practices.”

The course clearly defines the reasons attorneys need to save documents and emails to the DMS and the ramifications of not doing so correctly (or at all). It comprises multiple sections of best practices guidelines and the related resources, demos of the functionality the attorneys need to use, interactivity in the form of multiple choice questions, and visuals to augment the learning. The course can incorporate any document management system and can be tailored to include the firm’s own best practices.

The course is designed to secure CLE/MCLE accreditation, and Capensys encourages firms in states other than New York and California to present it to their local Bar Association or internal CLE/MCLE administrator to secure CLE/MCLE accreditation.
