Rekoop makes good time to achieve new security standard
UK News

Rekoop logoTime capture specialist Rekoop has become one of the first organisations in the United Kingdom to achieve certification to the quality standard ISO 27001:2013. This is the revised version of ISO 27001:2005, the international standard on establishing, operating and maintaining an Information Security Management System (ISMS).

The revision has seen much more emphasis placed on management buy-in and a top-down approach to security, rather than responsibility being vested in a single team or individual. There are now clearly defined roles and responsibilities relating to information security for every individual throughout an organisation, and accreditation hangs on ensuring these responsibilities are communicated and understood by staff.

Rekoop was advised by trusted security integrator and data assurance specialist Sapphire. Commenting on the project, Sapphire’s Director of Services, Alan Moffat said: “The team at Rekoop really applied themselves to the process, achieving certification in a very short period of time”.

Rekoop CEO Phil Wedgwood added: “We’re delighted to have been one of the first companies in the UK to achieve this enhanced standard, and possibly the first supplier in the legal space. Information security and data handling is a hugely sensitive issue for law firms and early accreditation evidences our respect for – and response to – those concerns.”
