Top 50 law firm, Keoghs, which provides insurance litigation services for a range of industry sectors, has chosen BigHand’s digital dictation platform in order to transform its existing document production process.
Keoghs selected BigHand as the upgrade to its existing digital dictation solution in order to drive greater productivity and efficiency throughout the firm. BigHand’s technology was chosen due to its ease of use, intuitive nature, robustness and its compatibility with the firm’s Windows 7 operating system.
Around 250 of the firm’s fee earners and all 30 of the secretaries will now use BigHand, including its core solution and mobile functionality, throughout the company’s offices in Bolton, Coventry and Manchester.
Keoghs currently delivers its services in Counter-Fraud Services, Claims Management Services and Technical Claims Services within the manufacturing, construction, logistics, utilities, healthcare and local authority industries. Its knowledge in Counter-Fraud Services is a key differentiator between its competitors and it was following an organisation-wide decision to upgrade its operating system to support those clients that Keoghs chose to implement BigHand.
“As part of a firm-wide initiative to update our operating system, we needed to upgrade several of our applications including our digital dictation system as the current model was not compatible,” Darrell Burnell, Programme Manager, Keoghs explains. “We were running a very old version of our existing dictation system and knew that in order to upgrade it, we would realistically need to start completely afresh. It was logical to consider the benefits of replacing it with an alternative product at the same time.
“We looked at each of the key players, including our current provider at the time, and drew up a comparison based on cost, technical features and how future-proof each system would be. Although both BigHand and our previous supplier were very engaged - BigHand won hands down.”
The project implementation was completed in December 2013 and since then Keoghs has seen a significant increase in the number of requests - month by month – by fee earners to use the system following a highly successful rollout. The system has also enabled significant productivity gains, as users are now able to dictate using their Blackberry or other mobile devices whilst they’re away from the office.
Burnell continues, “I can’t emphasise enough the ease of working with BigHand in terms of the project delivery – the team made the transition from our previous system very smooth indeed. Furthermore, BigHand is very easy to use, the sound quality is exceptional and the intuitive nature of the system meant that the training BigHand provided was equally straightforward – there wasn’t a need for protracted or intensive training sessions. However the team’s trainers were extremely helpful and BigHand has shown brilliant support throughout the process.”
“We’re now looking into other products and services including expanding the mobile use to other smartphone platforms such as Windows Mobile and Android. This is off the back of a really well run project and we look forward to continuing the success in the future.”
