Formpipe, developer of the SharePoint based document management product - Contentworker, announces today the availability of two major features in the 17.2 release: External Collaboration through SharePoint Online and a Mobile App for iOS.

The June 22 release of version 17.2 of Contentworker introduced functionality for law firms and corporate legal to easily share documents with external parties through Microsoft SharePoint Online (SharePoint in Microsoft Office 365). Matter owners, responsible attorneys or defined groups of users can enable document sharing in a matter and set external sharing location(s) to use. The external location can be on the firm’s/corporation’s own SharePoint Online site or the client’s/outside counsel’s. Users can then easily select documents to collaborate on with a couple of clicks. Contentworker will track the external documents, giving the in-house users full overview and control of the collaboration status of them.

The Contentworker Mobile App is now available on the Apple App Store. It provides users access to matter views and the documents and emails within them. Users can preview, email and download documents for offline use. Used with a mobile VPN, Contentworker Mobile will allow users to edit Microsoft Office documents directly with a single click, without having to download them first. It fully supports co-authoring, allowing multiple users to simultaneously work on a document from both traditional workstations and iOS devices. Contentworker Mobile connects to the Contentworker repository through a separate server, making it a secure access point without having to expose SharePoint to the internet.

Legal IT Today #18

“The feature for collaboration makes it easy for users to share documents with external parties, while at the same time allowing the firm or corporation to keep full control of the content. Our decision to use Office 365/SharePoint Online platform for the sharing functionality was based on where we see the industry moving. We did not want to build our proprietary sharing platform when Microsoft Office 365 includes all the functionality needed. We have designed the sharing functionality in a way that we can add connectors to other popular collaboration platforms in future releases“ stated Staffan Hugemark, Managing Director at Formpipe.
