ILTA Announces Executive Director Departure

ILTA logoOrganization Initiates Search for New Executive Director

The International Legal Technology Association, commonly referred to as ILTA, announced today that its long-serving executive director, Randi Mayes, will step down from her position in 2017.  The organization also announced the official launch of a formal search to identify a new leader.

ILTA is considered by many to be the premier volunteer-led, staff-managed peer networking association for those who work with legal technology from law firms as well as corporate and government legal operations. Since its founding in 1980, the association’s mission has been to educate and connect members and others in the legal technology community. Mayes has served the organization since its inception, first as a volunteer leader and eventually as its executive director, contributing her expertise in organizational development and association management as well as a passion for writing.  Affectionately known as the "Mother of ILTA", she has guided the organization through periods of growth and challenges.

Thinking about her pending departure from the association, Mayes commented, “It’s been extraordinarily humbling and gratifying to see the organization grow from a grassroots network to a large, international association. I’m proud of my matronly status, and I’m privileged to have witnessed the maturation of our beloved ILTA from a bumbling toddler to a highly respected adult.

“I am fortunate to have learned from thousands of passionate members across almost four decades, and if the passion arising from those experiences were money, I’d be the richest person on earth. The opportunities for professional development and life-long personal connections extend infinitely as new members find the embrace of this wonderful community.

“My successor will enjoy a vibrant, fast-moving landscape, a passionate and committed volunteer base, and the most extraordinary staff on earth. I’ll continue to be ILTA’s biggest fan from the sidelines.”

"Randi has dedicated herself to advancing ILTA’s mission for the past four decades and has played a critical role in shaping ILTA into the organization that it is today," said ILTA board president Meredith Williams.  “Randi’s tireless service through both our successes and our challenges has positioned ILTA for continued success after her departure.  We thank her for her years of dedicated service and wish her the best with whatever the future holds for her.”

In an announcement to ILTA’s membership, ILTA’s Board of Directors recognized the critical importance of this position to the long-term success of the organization and committed to updating the membership on the progress of the search through announcements via the association website and other online communication channels.

The Board has formed a search committee to oversee the process of selecting a new executive director and retained executive search firm Vetted Solutions to coordinate the process. The search will commence in mid-August 2016 with the goal of identifying the new leader by the end of the year.
