Guardian Provides Data Leak Protection and Document Security for Law Firms Using OpenText eDOCS
Wertheim Global Solutions (WGSL), providers of information management solutions, today announced immediate availability of Guardian, a software solution to protect data and intellectual property. Guardian works in conjunction with leading document management tool OpenText eDOCS to provide critical protection against illegal downloads and theft of sensitive information by employees or insiders.
“The Edward Snowden crisis put data leakage on the radar in a major way,” said Joshua Wertheim, President of Wertheim Global. “There are grave data weaknesses in the legal, government and financial fields, especially from staff access to information. With Guardian, we are able to provide eDocs users with controls and protections to prevent data theft.”
According to a recent study, 90% of data theft prosecutions in the U.S. were brought against ‘insiders’ or employees of the victims. Guardian for eDOCS provides eDOCS DM sites a highly effective, cost effective method of monitoring for abusive use of sensitive information. It is ideal for any organization that wants to ensure users are not downloading or excessively accessing sensitive documents.
The software, which plugs into eDOCS, provides customizable controls to monitors document activity and automatically notify administrators if certain thresholds are reached. For example, if a user checks out and saves information externally to the system too many times, administrators are notified by email and text messages, and the user may be immediately deactivated. Additionally, alerts can be set so that deactivation is automatic.
Guardian is Wertheim Global’s latest addition to its information management solutions which include a variety of add-on administrative and compliance tools for eDOCs including WincTools, WincWall, DMFolders, WincAudit and Crosswind.
