Accellion logoIntegrated Solution Offers Enhanced Security and Control of Business Information Sharing and Access on Mobile Devices

Accellion®, Inc., the award-winning pioneer in providing enterprise-class, secure mobile file sharing solutions, today announced the Accellion Mobile App is now integrated with MobileIron AppConnect. The integration lets users securely share and manage files from their mobile device while separating business and personal data and providing the Mobile IT organization with the security and access controls it needs.

The Accellion solution provides secure viewing, editing, sharing and syncing of enterprise content on smartphones and tablets. Users can create and edit Microsoft® Office-compatible documents, within the secure Accellion environment. In addition Accellion provides secure, real-time mobile access to files stored in SharePoint, Windows File Shares and other ECM systems – without the need for a VPN.

MobileIron is a provider of security and management for mobile apps, documents, and devices and through MobileIron AppConnect, the Accellion Mobile App becomes part of a trusted ecosystem of apps that enable organizations to enhance mobile productivity while ensuring security and control.

“Content is the lifeblood of an organization. Our customers want to give their employees access to the business documents they need wherever they,” said Ojas Rege, VP Strategy, MobileIron. “Deploying both Accellion and MobileIron not only allows them to improve mobile productivity, it also gives them the assurance that business data stays secure and separate from personal data.”

The integration of Accellion with MobileIron AppConnect delivers a seamless user experience for accessing and sharing enterprise content securely on mobile devices while allowing IT to manage content policies and access controls at the enterprise level. IT administrators can set policies for content security including the ability to selectively wipe the app container and all its contents, while keeping other device data intact.

“One of the biggest challenges that organizations face in light of the mobile device explosion is empowering employee productivity while mitigating the security risks of lost or stolen devices with access to sensitive content,” said Gary Rogers, SVP, worldwide sales, Accellion, Inc. “Now with Accellion Secure Mobile File Sharing, integrated with MobileIron AppConnect, organizations can seamlessly secure not only the device but also the content and keep business information separate from personal information.”

The Accellion Mobile App for MobileIron AppConnect offers the following security capabilities:

  • Authentication to confirm users’ identity with domain username and password or certificates
  • Authorization to allow or block app usage globally or at the individual user level
  • Dynamic policy control, allowing administrators to centrally manage and dynamically update app policies
  • Content restriction controls to set restriction policies, such as copy/paste usage and open-in accessibility
  • Automatic decommission in the event a device is compromised, which allows organizations to de-authorize or retire devices, while also wiping the device’s stored data

As part of the MobileIron AppConnect ecosystem, Accellion users can exchange content with other AppConnect-enabled apps, as well as other apps approved on an IT-managed whitelist.  The Accellion Mobile App integrated with MobileIron AppConnect is available today.
