Thomson Reuters Introduces Litigation Analytics for Companies on Westlaw
Global News

TR logoThomson Reuters is enhancing Westlaw with the addition of Litigation Analytics for Companies, providing advanced capabilities to efficiently search and analyze litigation trends by company or industry.

Litigation Analytics on Westlaw Precision and Westlaw Edge already provides docket analytics – drawn from federal and state courts – on judges, courts, damages, attorneys, law firms, and case types. The addition of Litigation Analytics for Companies provides law firms with detailed data to identify the litigation needs of existing and prospective clients and to review the tactics of opposing parties.

Firms can leverage Litigation Analytics for Companies to identify and expand opportunities with existing clients by understanding their litigation history as well as other outside counsel they have used. Business-development professionals within law firms can find new clients that match the firm’s expertise and locations. The data also shows which outside counsel those companies have engaged in the past, allowing a law firm to identify likely competitors for a potential client’s business. Litigators can develop case strategies by analyzing an opposing party’s litigation history, including the motions typically filed, arguments previously made, and the outcomes of cases.

“Litigation Analytics for Companies will help law firms strengthen their litigation strategies, improve business-development efforts, and better manage law firm operations,” said Jessica Nelson, director, Product Management, Thomson Reuters. “Litigation Analytics users have long been asking for the same company-specific analytics pioneered by Monitor Suite. We’re delighted to integrate these advanced litigation-strategy and business-development capabilities into the Westlaw experience.”

Westlaw Precision and Westlaw Edge customers with subscriptions to Monitor Suite will automatically receive Litigation Analytics for Companies. Other Westlaw Precision and Westlaw Edge customers can add Litigation Analytics for Companies to their subscriptions.

Over the next year, additional content and tools from Monitor Suite will be integrated into Litigation Analytics on Westlaw. With the enhancements to Litigation Analytics on Westlaw, the Monitor Suite platform will be retired in late 2023, and customers can transition to Westlaw Edge or Westlaw Precision to seamlessly manage their analytics and source documents on a single platform.
