CPA Global Builds Two Divisions for Tech-Enabled Future of IP
Global News

CPA logoIP technology leader CPA Global today announces the next phase of its ambitious customer-focused strategy to drive better IP outcomes from improved data-enabled IP decision making and greatly improved IP productivity across the industry at its annual customer conference, IGNITE!.

Following the merger and integration with ipan/Delegate Group (which closed in May 2019), CPA Global will now operate as two core business divisions - Software and Tech-Enabled Services – harnessing the expertise and product offerings of the newly-combined businesses, and ensuring the group is organised to best meet the needs of a growing international customer base and create an exceptional customer experience.

Simon Webster, the Group Chief Executive of CPA Global will take the additional interim role of Divisional CEO of Software, while Gordon Samson (COO) will become Divisional CEO of Tech-Enabled Services.

As part of the merger the combined group has moved to a single management structure, operating in line with the new divisions. The group is well positioned to develop an end-to-end technology and services platform serving all participants in the intellectual property market, with unparalleled strength and breadth across product and service.

Pierre Legrand, Chief Technologist and Digital Services Leader at PWC, said: “The IP industry is facing a natural next phase in its digital transformation journey. Leaders in this space need to disrupt or be disrupted. The move to a unified software and technology-enabled services business, centred around customer success and support will enable CPA Global to envision what’s possible and execute on high potential technological advances.”

Simon Webster, Group CEO of CPA Global, commented: “Our successful merger with ipan/Delegate Group provides us huge opportunity to assess how, moving forwards in a rapidly changing IP ecosystem, CPA Global can even more effectively support our customers, and work with them to author the future of IP.

“We see a future where the ideas that change the world are never constrained by the IP machinery that manages them. We call this Frictionless IP – which means helping businesses make better, more informed decisions about their IP and providing seamless, integrated task execution so that when decisions are made - value can be realised efficiently and effectively. This ambition is the foundation of our business, informing our corporate strategy, products and services, culture and, fundamentally, the merger with ipan/Delegate - which has given us access to new capabilities, products and talent.

“We have designed our reorganised business structure with our customers front of mind and in line with strategic goals to increase clarity, consistency and customer experience. I and the rest of the team are very excited to be taking the next step forward in our journey as a combined business.”

The reorganisation forms a key component of CPA Global’s refined strategic plan, through which CPA Global aims to double the number of ideas and innovations which it helps customers to manage. As a part of this strategic imperative, CPA Global has already begun to help innovative businesses and their advisers realise ‘Frictionless IP’ through its New IP campaign focused on the digital transformation of the industry and its Better Decisions suite of products and services.
