Lexpo secures International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) as Education Partner for Lexpo’19
Continental Europe News

Lexpo - ILTALexpo, Europe’s prestigious legal innovation event, today announced a partnership with the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA). For Lexpo’19 (Amsterdam, 8 & 9 April), ILTA will be Lexpo’s education partner.

Just like the previous editions, the Lexpo’19 agenda is dominated by high-caliber internationally renowned subject-matter experts. Rob Ameerun, founder of Lexpo, commented: “The most difficult part of organizing Lexpo is to find the best speakers for the themes defined by our Advisory Board. Being an expert is one thing but being able to bring the message across to the audience is equally important. Also, the different session formats at Lexpo’19 are challenging: in addition to the keynotes, standard sessions and Chief CXO Q&A sessions, Lexpo’19 will feature live case study presentations and round table discussions. The partnership with ILTA is not only a recognition for what we achieved so far, it also provides us with an unprecedented international network of highly skilled legal technologists and innovators, numerous resources and all relevant knowledge we need to make Lexpo even better.”

Joy Heath Rush, interim CEO at ILTA, added: “By working closely together with Lexpo, we will have first-hand access to the European legaltech scene and legal innovation initiatives, and as a result we can better serve our members around the globe. The decision to partner with Lexpo is an extension of our member value proposition, and the expertise and real-world experiences shared by our community can provide Lexpo additional ongoing learning and support for every professional who works in the European legal sector."

This year’s main Lexpo themes are:

  • Collaboration - Collaboration is key, not only between lawyers and their clients, but also between the professional experts working in different practice areas. Partners might recognize the need to change, but their buy-in doesn’t always translate to a change in behavior.
  • Differentiation - Innovative legaltech solutions are hitting the market at an ever-increasing rate, thereby facilitating the creation of level playing fields for all involved parties. How can law firms differentiate themselves to demonstrate competitive advantage to their clients?
  • Valuation - What is legal advice really worth to clients? Does the means of delivery affect the value? How to work out the right price on the right deal? Can pricing and client service strategies help to differentiate a law firm from its competitors? How to define what customer-focused really means. And how can technology play a role?
  • Cybersecurity - The news is full of stories about law firm hacks and ransomware victims. Cybersecurity remains a top priority for law firms, the reality is often disappointing: expensive security projects that do not necessarily offer a return on investment tend to be pretty unpopular with CIOs!

The two keynote sessions at Lexpo’19 are presented by Harvard Distinguished Fellow Heidi Gardner (Monday 8 April) and Fastcase 50 Global Legal Innovator Mitch Kowalski (Tuesday 9 April).
