Australasia News

GlobalX logoA Brisbane based legal and conveyancing technology firm has received national recognition at the 2017 Australian Business Awards, taking out the top accolade for software innovation.

GlobalX received the ABA100 Award for Software Innovation for its Matter Centre cloud-based software, an integrated online information and workflow system launched in August last year as a LegalTech disruptor.

The Australian Business Award for Software Innovation recognises software products and services that provide advanced solutions for new and existing market needs.

Chief Executive Officer Peter Maloney said he was elated to accept the award, crediting the win to the dedicated and passionate staff at GlobalX.

"The Australian Business Awards recognise high calibre, well-managed and top-performing businesses in Australia and this award reflects GlobalX's commitment to innovative, industry-leading initiatives," Mr Maloney said.

"When we launched Matter Centre, we deliberately set-out to disrupt the $100 million legal and conveyancing software industry.

"We are destroying the traditional model of lawyers paying software licence fees and annual maintenance, and moving the industry into the new world of a platform-as-a-service model.

"We have enabled lawyers and conveyancers to shed themselves of software licence fees, and now only pay for the services they consumer through the platform.

"No Australian ever paid to download the Uber App – but every user consumes the services through the App on an as needs basis. Matter Centre customers, which have grown to more than 700 users, simply download the App, consume the services as required and escape traditional rigid, lock-in contracts that do not reflect the needs of modern businesses."

"This free conveyancing software is helping to revolutionise the property industry by delivering a truly scalable, cost effective and integrated workflow management solution."

Mr Maloney said Matter Centre integrated with electronic conveyancing platform Property Exchange Australia (PEXA), making it easier and more accurate for lawyers, settlement agents and home owners to transact property.

"Our work with PEXA sees us continuously working to propel the property industry forward, and it is an honour for the GlobalX team to be recognised for our hard work," he said.

The State Governments across Australia have been slowly legislating digital conveyancing for the past two years, with many people hailing the current process as archaic.

"It is part of our culture to foster an innovative workplace and nurture our staff to continue to push the envelope," Mr Maloney said.

"With more than 250 staff nationally, GlobalX has grown rapidly over the past five years. Our focus and our continued commitment to developing solutions like Matter Centre and electronic conveyancing is what has garnered us industry-wide recognition."

Now in its twelfth year, the Australian Business Awards celebrate Australia's most innovative businesses who utilise technology as they continue to drive local and international markets.

GlobalX also received an Australian Business Award for innovation in 2015.
