ZyLAB Awarded Safe Harbor Certification to Comply with US and EU Data Privacy Practices

ZyLAB, a leading provider of eDiscovery and Intelligent Information Governance technology today announces it has fully certified its compliance with the provisions of the US-EU Safe Harbor Framework. With this certification, ZyLAB underscores its commitment to meeting European Data Privacy standards in North America.

The Safe Harbor self-certification for ZyLAB North America, LLC has been finalized and is effective as of December 11, 2014.

The European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection went into effect in October 1998 and prohibits the transfer of personal data to non-European Union countries that do not meet the European Union (EU) “adequacy” standard for privacy protection.

Although the United States and the EU both enforce privacy protection for their citizens, the two continents take a different approach. The "Safe Harbor" framework was developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce in consultation with the European Commission, in order to bridge these differences. The framework provides a streamlined means for U.S. organizations to comply with the Directive of the European Commission.
