Australasia News

LexisNexis logoLexisNexis Pacific has been awarded the tender to develop a new Court Management System for the Vanuatu Supreme and Magistrates Courts. The new system will improve the operational processes in both courts and across all registries by giving users enhanced productivity and increased compliance through improved access to case data, automation of processes and faster movements of documents through the court systems.

Created to answer the needs of the Vanuatu Courts, the Lexis Visualfiles Court Management System is a powerful ‘off the shelf’ solution designed specifically to help with the production of documentation in a timelier manner, track case workflows and have the ability to effortlessly access information in a user friendly, flexible and scalable manner.

Chief Registrar John Alilee, from the Vanuatu Courts explained why Lexis Visualfiles was chosen as their new system: “There are so many elements of this solution that answers our needs including the integration with MS Office and Outlook and the high degree of configurability that allows us to self-manage the product. Importantly the professionalism shown throughout the evaluation period by LexisNexis gives us great confidence going forward with their products”.

“We are very excited that the Lexis Visualfiles Court Management System will be launched in Vanuatu,” James Parker, Executive Director Practice Management, said. “LexisNexis are deeply committed to improving legal systems, and advancing the rule of law across the globe. In working in partnership with the Vanuatu Supreme Court to identify where we can help improve productivity and reduce cost we look forward to supporting a more seamless, faster, integrated Court system that helps all the citizens, legal practitioners and judiciary of Vanuatu.”

The new system is due to go live in October 2015, and will automate time-consuming manual processes from assigning cases and producing orders and judgments; it introduces a document management repository where users can draft, view and save documents and emails; and deliver a wide number of reports including cases, list and diary information and financial information. The funding for this new system has been provided by Australian Aid through the Police and Justice Support Program Vanuatu.
