Law Firm IT Business Analyst (UK, London)

Description: Our London Law Firm client is now looking to recruit a Business Analyst to join their IT team for a 12 month fixed term contract role. The Law Firm is looking for an experienced Business Analyst, who is highly competent and can lead projects, when required.

You as a Business Analyst will be required to analyse business activity and help decide whether new systems or procedures will improve productivity. Project management of projects as agreed with Head of IT.

Prepare research documentation with findings and recommendations. Establish a system for continuous review of key business procedures dependent on IT. The IT team has been very busy during the past few years and 2012 will be no exception with numerous projects underway.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally proactive individual with great attention to detail who can contribute to a forward thinking team. The Law Firm are in a technology transition period so there is a great deal to do and it is very busy, so the candidate should be able to cope with a challenging and fast moving environment.

Listed below are the projects the Business Analyst will be involved:

  • Desktop 2012 - Migration from Office 2003 on Windows XP to Office 2010 on Windows 7. There has been a considerable amount of analysis completed already and the successful candidate will need to ensure that this analysis is maintained and considered and that all requirements are met during development. Ideally the individual will also lead this project working with the internal development team as well as managing a supplier and the external development team.
  • Document Management - During the latter part of 2012, the law firm plan on starting a project to replace their aging DM system. The BA will lead the initial stages of this work, gathering requirements and analysing the needs of the business to ensure they deliver an appropriate system. They will also be involved throughout the project as a sounding board for ideas and to ensure the system delivers the expected benefits.
  • Knowledge Management - working with external consultants to gather requirements and test a firm wide knowledge management system.
  • Client and Matter Opening - Whilst a full requirements analysis was recently completed, the project has been put on hold until later in 2012.

The successful candidate will need to review the requirements at this time to ensure they are still current and work with the internal and external development teams to ensure the process is developed in line with those requirements.

Technical Skills:

  • Previous Business Analysis experience, ideally with a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of all Microsoft Office 2010 applications and Windows 7.
  • Strong project management experience using a structured methodology
  • Experience in supporting and/or managing one or more of the following would be advantageous:
    • Document Management systems for example OpenText (Hummingbird)
    • Document Management v5.2 including Matter Centric working
    • Knowledge Management
    • Digital dictation (BigHand)
    • InterAction CRM
This is a fixed term 12 month position and pays a salary of circa £40,000 plus excellent benefits.
