Head of IT Operations (UK, Manchester)

Description: Our client, a national Law Firm with over 1,500 employees throughout the UK, is now looking to continue its growth within its large IT division and is looking to recruit a Head of IT Operations who will report directly to the IT Director.

The Head of IT Operations will be from a Law Firm or professional services environment or possibly from a retail IT background with the ability to bring fresh ideas.

The Head of IT Operations will have various responsibilities which will include full responsibility of:

  • IT Infrastructure
  • Service Desk
  • Help Desk

A proportion of the Head of IT Operations role is made up of ensuring that all service levels and KPI's are met and exceeded and that all is operating as it should.

The Head of IT Operations role requires:

  • Understanding the business and have a commercial understanding rather than purely technical,
  • Have the ability to treat users of technology as clients and
  • Acknowledge the expertise and service that your department must provide.
  • Strategy in business and understand existing technologies and investigate and be aware of emerging technologies.

The Head of IT Operations will research and look at implementing outsourced services as and where appropriate and define internal service standards in terms of performance, availability and capacity.

The Head of IT Operations will also be recognised as an effective leader and to create a culture that engenders service excellence and be comfortable in making decisions and be able to recognise the implications of such decisions across different areas of the Law Firm.

As a minimum the Head of IT Operations will have 5-7 years of management in both infrastructure and service desk and have Management experience of teams circa 40 staff. This role is a senior position and therefore do not apply unless you meet the criteria set out in this job description.
