Taylor Vinters selects Netbox Blue as firewalll, content checker, URL blocker and Social Media monitoring solution

Cambridge based law firm, Taylor Vinters, have selected Netbox Blue from Nikec Solutions as their firewall, content checker, URL blocker and social media monitoring solution. Taylor Vinters IT Director, Steve Sumner commented: “Like a number of firms we had pondered the question of how to manage the social media phenomenon and in the absence of an off-the-shelf solution had put in force a blanket ban on its use within the firm.

As we came to understand the value of social media in the promotion of the firm and what an intrinsic part of some people’s lives it is, we questioned whether a blanket ban was still the correct way to deal with it and as luck would have it, along came an introduction by a friend to the people at Nikec Solutions & Netbox Blue, they had just the tool we could use.

With a little bit of scepticism we took a look. As well as an answer to our social medial dilemmas, the Netbox Blue solution also dealt with managing general internet browsing, email scanning and general firewall and proxy service, topped off with an install that sat on VMWare.

What we wanted to deliver was something that would do the obvious blocking that all people accept is appropriate together with a considered and practical approach to allowing use of the new media forms where it is not contrary to the interests of the firm. Netbox lets us do that. A simple test we did, key in the word “Gambling” to Google, click on one of the results, it should block, open eBay, search for gambling, click on one of the results, it should not block.
