Biscoes Solicitors Look Towards a Future in the DPSCloud

DPS logoBiscoes Solicitors have become the latest firm to select a DPSCloud fully-managed hosted solution as their future IT platform. The Portsmouth-based firm has its head office in the North End area of the Hampshire city and also operates from satellite offices in Gosport, Portchester, Petersfield, Waterlooville and Wickham.

Biscoes is a multi-discipline firm and offers services from these offices in all major areas of commercial and private legal work.

The firm comprises 140 staff and their stated aim is to continue to move confidently into the 21st Century, whilst remaining steadfastly committed to the provision of a traditional and locally based legal service. Biscoes’ transition to a DPSCloud hosted solution will provide the technology infrastructure necessary to achieve this aim and in DPS they have a key strategic IT partner committed to supporting them in doing so.

Biscoes will continue to use DPS’s market-leading OutlookOffice case management system with workflows in place for departments including conveyancing, personal injury, matrimonial and probate amongst others. The firm also takes advantage of the fully-integrated Cashier legal accounts system and the move to DPSCloud will see them adopt DPS TeamTalk digital dictation.

This suite of legal software combined with the fact DPS maintain their own head office datacentre is what allows the legal technology supplier to provide a solution like DPSCloud which effectively offers a ‘one-stop-shop’ approach to meeting a legal firm’s IT needs.

“At Biscoes we have, until now, maintained an on-premise IT infrastructure but it became apparent recently that our hardware was coming to the end of its effective life. With a potentially huge cost involved in addressing this we began to assess other options including hosted IT in the form of DPSCloud” says Mathew Smith, Partner and Head of IT at Biscoes.

Mathew continues: “The DPSCloud solution represents a comprehensive and cost-effective way to meet our IT requirements. Through leveraging a strong supplier relationship and delegating IT responsibilities to DPS we are able to manage different elements of our IT strategy including our legal software, Microsoft applications, hosted service and our business continuity procedures through a single solution.”

The Private Cloud model and full-service nature of the solution, which was designed with legal firms in mind (drawing on DPS’s 28 years experience of working with the legal sector), means DPSCloud clients can rest assured their technology infrastructure is placed on a sound footing for the future.

“Biscoes are an example of a large regional firm that has the business foresight but also the agility to make the transition to a full-service hosted IT solution at a point in time when they could still be considered early adopters amongst legal firms” comments DPS MD Osman Ismail.

“The coming years will see most firms at least seriously considering hosted IT due to the cost-saving and the operational benefits it offers such as remote working capabilities and the outsourcing of disaster recovery responsibilities. At DPS we know we have a market-leading solution in DPSCloud and we look forward to working with Biscoes as they begin to take advantage of it.”
