Jeffrey Brandt



Jeffrey BrandtWith an educational background in computer science and mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh, Jeff has over twenty four years of experience in the field of legal automation working with various organizations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Jeff has worked a number of roles in the legal community. As a technology and management consultant to hundreds of law firms and corporate law departments he worked on information management projects including: long range strategic planning, workflow management and reengineering, knowledge management,

IT structure and personnel requirements and, of course, budgeting. As a litigation support/eDiscovery and systems integration services vendor, he designed and implemented complex litigation support database and provided system management/administration and complex systems design services. Working as a CIO at several large law firms, Jeff has helped bring oversight, coordination and change management to initiatives including: knowledge management, library & research services, eDiscovery, records management, technology and more. Most recently he served as the Chief Information and Knowledge Officer with an AMLaw 100 law firm based out of Washington, DC.

Jeff has also been asked to serve on numerous advisory councils and CIO advisory boards for key vendors in the legal space, advising them on issues of client service and future product direction.

He is a long time member of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) having served many roles from conference committee track chair to Vice President of the Mobile Remote and Wireless group. For the past two years he has co-Chaired the G100 CIO Summit, an international event bringing together the CIOs from the worlds largest law firms to discuss key technology and management issues. Most recently he concluded service on the ILTA Board of Directors.

Jeff has taught CLE classes on topics ranging from litigation support to ethics and technology. He is a frequent educational speaker at regional and national user trade shows and industry conferences. His most recent presentations have been centered on the topics of social networking, management/leadership and the role of IT in alternative fee arrangements.

Jeff is the father of five children (1 boy and 4 girls), a believer in home school education, and actively involved with Boy Scouts of America (a former Cub Master with Pack 176, now Assistant Scout Master with Troop 1158). He is a pinewood derby enthusiast, dog lover and comic book collector.

He has often described himself as a “high tech Amish”, struggling to integrate and balance cutting edge technology with a simple home life.
