RDC Analytics and Judge Andrew Peck to Discuss Content Analytics and Keyword Development and Negotiations at LegalTech

RDC logoChief Scientist Andy Kraftsow Joins eDiscovery Panel Discussion with Judge Andrew Peck and RenewData President Rich Cohen

LegalTech - Jan. 30, 2012 – RDC Analytics, a content analytics consulting firm, announced today that its chief scientist, Andy Kraftsow, will be presenting at LegalTech New York on February 1 at 10:30 am ET. Kraftsow joins a distinguished panel that includes Judge Andrew Peck, US Magistrate Judge, Southern District of New York, and Rich Cohen, president of RenewData.

The session, titled “Content Analytics Case Study: Taking the Fight out of Keywords,“ will address the complexities of selecting which keywords should be chosen to filter document collections and how to apply a defensible and transparent approach to keyword identification using content analytics.

Choosing keywords to filter a document collection is a common dilemma in eDiscovery. Historically, keyword selection has involved an “educated guess” process that is open to interpretation and potential contentiousness. Judge Andrew Peck, who has given the bar counsel in his William A. Gross Constr. Assocs., Inc. v. American Mfrs. Mut. Ins. Co decision on how to address fundamental flaws in choosing keywords, will discuss problems inherent with keywords and challenges that he sees during keyword negotiation sessions.

The conversation will also focus on the introduction of content analytics, a specialized approach to inspecting large volumes of unstructured data based on various language-based methodologies, expertise and tools. The panel will discuss how emerging content analytics methodologies can take the fight out of keywords, drive greater transparency, and assure accuracy in retrieval and cooperation. Special focus will be given to the techniques that expedite the analysis of data in a transparent and defensible fashion through language analysis.

As one of the largest legal technology conferences in the world, LegalTech New York welcomes more than 10,000 attorneys, litigation professionals, and legal IT experts each year.
