Intelligent Discovery Solutions Launches Enterprise Security Practice

iDS logoIndustry-leading consultancy staged to assist corporate America with security risk management

Intelligent Discovery Solutions, Inc., ("iDS") a premier provider of information management consulting and technology services to multinational corporations, financial institutions and law firms, announces the launch of its Enterprise Security Practice.

iDS formed the new practice to help clients evaluate and address the confidentiality, integrity and availability of their critical information assets.

“For every case of computer hacking you read about in the news, there are dozens of security breaches in corporate America daily that don’t make headlines,” said Neal Lawson, Managing Director and co-founder of iDS. “These breaches expose businesses to risk and loss every day. We recognized a need to help our corporate and law firm clients protect their information assets to mitigate risk, prevent loss and, for many, comply with state and federal regulations.”

Michael Tyk, an accomplished information technology security professional with more than 25 years of consulting experience, leads iDS’s Enterprise Security Practice. Working with Tyk is a team of experts with years of real world security experience who advise companies on managing information security, protecting critical data processes and hardening the exposed targets across the organization’s IT infrastructure.

iDS’s Enterprise Security Practice has three key components to address the myriad security risk of any organization: Security Assessment Services, Security Strategic Services and Security Advisory Services.

When completing a security assessment for a client, iDS experts evaluate the security of people, processes and technologies against best practices and business impact. Their evaluation methodology includes: identifying gaps in policies, process or standards; establishing the desired state of security maturity; identifying vulnerabilities and threats to applications and infrastructure; evaluating security liabilities from every angle; and providing prioritized action plans to enhance security defense and address vulnerabilities.

The Security Strategic Services team evaluates the maturity of a company’s information security program including how well the enterprise is protected and what steps should be taken to improve security. These experts help executives understand the potential macro information security liabilities, map corporate goals with the current state and maturity level of each business unit and then build a corporate security platform.

Security Advisory Services begin with an assessment using a controlled methodology that identifies the strengths and weaknesses of a company’s IT security processes. These iDS experts provide independent, in-depth review of a company’s e-business applications, including: architecture, design and function; development and maintenance; operational processes and technology components; networking services used; and database or operating platforms used. This service includes internal and external penetration testing, which provide companies with a “hackers-eye” view of their system-wide security.

“By forming the Enterprise Security Practice, we intend to educate our clients on their security threats and also help them save hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost productivity, consumer confidence, intellectual property and more,” Lawson said.
