Clearwell Systems, Inc., a leader in intelligent e-discovery, today announced that Foley Hoag, LLP, a nationally and internationally recognized leader in dispute resolution, intellectual property and corporate transactions, has selected the Clearwell E-Discovery Platform for processing, early case assessment (ECA) and first-pass review of electronically stored information (ESI). As a result, Foley Hoag’s clients are now able to achieve the much recognized benefits of early case assessment, including estimating the scope of the e-discovery effort, assessing case facts to evaluate risk and settlement value, preparing for meet and confer conferences, and culling irrelevant data to reduce review costs.

“Our clients need us to act quickly when e-discovery is required, and want rapid visibility into case facts and accurate estimates of impending scope and cost projections,” said John Palumbo, Senior Litigation Support Manager at Foley Hoag. “For us, early case assessment is a best practices standard which helps our clients immediately assess their risk and determine case strategy from the outset of the e-discovery process. With Clearwell we are now able to offer market-leading ECA capabilities that reduce risk and enable us to deliver significant cost savings to our clients.”

In a recent case, the Foley Hoag case team utilized the Clearwell E-Discovery Platform hosted at their preferred service provider Esquire Solutions. Over 700,000 documents were processed within a day and available to the case team for ECA. The case team leveraged capabilities such as auto-filters and Transparent Search to reduce the data by 87 percent post de-duplication, significantly reducing downstream costs.

“Practicing early case assessment to understand facts from the outset of the e-discovery process provides tremendous value by reducing risk and costs,” said Kamal Shah, VP of Products and Marketing at Clearwell. “Effective ECA thus becomes a central way for law firms to pass along sizeable cost savings directly to their clients. The dramatic benefits Foley Hoag realized in just one case speak to the power of ECA and mirror the significant savings that our customers continue to find in using Clearwell.”
